Floods remain in Thai South, cold spell hits North

BANGKOK, January 17 (TNA) - Floods have remained in some areas in the Thai South; while a seasonal cold snap has continued hitting the Thai North with falling temperatures. Southerners living along the Songkhla Lake in the Songkhla and Phattalung Provinces have been affected by floodwater, latest recorded at 50-60 centimetres in five localities in Phattalung alone, affecting over 2,000 households and local farmlands, mainly oil palm plantations. Temperatures in the northern region, including Tern District of Lampang Province, have, meanwhile, kept falling, to as low as 8.2 degree Celsius this morning, marking the lowest temperature in Tern in three years. Temperatures have also dropped to below 10 degree Celsius in Lampang's Muang and Hang Chat districts. (TNA)
