Flower gardens in Thailand welcome int'l visitors during New Year Festival

THAILAND, December 27 (TNA) - Many Thai provinces now welcome international visitors with flower gardens during the ongoing New Year Festival. Nakhon Chiang Rai Municipality Mayor Wanchai Jongsutthanamanee on Tuesday inspected the readiness at the 75th Anniversary Flag and Lamp Park, where the 13th Chiang Rai Flower Festival was set to kick off on December 29 and will welcome international visitors with several varieties of flowers until January 31, 2017. This year’s theme of the flower festival is to pay tribute to late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In the northeastern Nakhon Phanom Province bordering Laos, the landscape along the Mekong River is now transformed into a sunflower garden to attract international tourists to take pictures with sunflowers on the backdrop of a mountain range on the other side of the Mekong River in the neighboring country. The Muang Nakhon Phanom Municipality is also organizing a fair, to be run until January 2, 2017, to sell food and local products, while restaurants are opened their booths on the river’s bank to serve international visitors.
