FM pays visit to Norway

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ While in Kingdom of Norway with official visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren has held official talks with his counterpart Mr Borge Brende. The Mongolian FM touched upon issues of enriching the bilateral relations and cooperation with economic contents, collaborating in the matter of mineral fund and co-organizing cultural measures on occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Mongolia-Norway diplomatic relations. Noting that Norway attaches a great importance to its relations with Mongolia, Mr Brende expressed his country’s willingness to co-implement project through the international cooperation fund, to hold trainings for Mongolian experts at insurance fund of Norway, and to co-organize cultural events. The two Ministers also shared views on the neutrality policy of Mongolia and international issues. Norway’s side reaffirmed that it will support Mongolia in seeking a membership in United Nations Council for Human Rights (UNCHR). After the official talks, our Foreign Minister has met with Ms Marit Nybakk, the First Deputy Speaker of Norway, and with officials of the Standing committee on foreign policy and defense to exchange views on the Mongolia-Norway relations including the cooperation between the legislative bodies. The parties noted that the two countries’ legislative bodies have been playing a vital role in the bilateral relations, and emphasized an importance of fortifying this cooperation and of sharing experiences. After this, Mr Purevsuren has met with Mr Paal Bjornstad, the Deputy Minister of Finance, to share with him views on cooperating in management of mineral resources and its legal environment. The Norway’s side said it is ready to collaborate with Mongolia in these issues and promised to study a chance of investing big projects in Mongolia.
