Foreign Correspondents In Thailand Condemn Killing

By Minggu Simon Lhasa BANGKOK, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand (FCCT) condemns the cold-blooded attack on the office of the French magazine, Charlie Hebdo in Paris, in which 12 people were murdered. The dead included the magazine's editor, Stephane Charbonnier, and three cartoonists. Charlie Hebdo is well-known for its scathing satirical critiques of politicians, the extreme right and of all religions, it said in a statement here Thursday. The FCCT said it stood in solidarity with the journalists at Charlie Hebdo at this time, and stood by the freedom of journalists to publish material, however provocative, without fear of violent retribution. Nothing could justify the use of violence, it said, adding that the FCCT's thoughts were with the families and colleagues of the victims. -- BERNAMA
