Foreign Labourers Receive Respect and Appreciation in Qatar, Says Naqi

Doha, April 20 (QNA) -Abdulrahim Hasan Naqi , the Secretary General of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FGCC Chambers), has confirmed that the foreign labourers in Qatar are receiving every respect and appreciation and enjoy stability and safety that is prevailing in qatar, refuting all wrong news reported in the western media about their (the labourers) rights violations in Qatar as mere fabrication aiming at defaming the GCC states and not only Qatar. In press remarks relayed by Qatari 'Al Arab' Newspaper published here on Sunday , Naqi said the state of Qatar is carrying out the best world standards related to labourers , matching those effective and applied in the USA and Europe. " These allegations circulated in the western newspapers about labourers in Qatar are just opening of files which have other goals , with a view to affecting Qatar and its hosting of the 2022 world cup championship", said Naqi . Elaborating he made clear the the sponser system applied in Qatar and the other GCC states is not an arbitrary system since several amendments were introduced to the labour legislations over the past years to cope with the changes of the era and ensure the personal freedom of the sponsored to be in consistent with the economic drive and meet the needs of the development and progress movement of economic , social and security protection. member states ,is a legitimate system and does not violate the principles of the Human Rights declaration and the rules of public international law. He further quoted by al arab daily as saying that the sponsorship system is similar to any procedure or system imposed by any world country to ensure and maintain safety of its existence and identity , security and stability and the rights of its citizens and its language and its economy , sovereignty and protect the future of the generations to come. Naqi went on to say , "The Gulf states , without exception, are gaining an international acclaim in maintaining the human rights of citizens and residents, noting that the indicators of freedom, democracy and protection of human rights available in these countries are much more and greater than any other Arab country that does not operate according to the sponsorship system ." Replying to a question on the large-scale projects being implemented in Qatar and the Gulf states and how to use them in supporting the private sector and the national economy in those countries , Naqi said, "The most important sectors that will witness a big boom in the coming period in the GCC, and especially the State of Qatar is the infrastructure sector and contracting, which is expected to experiencing strong growth in the coming years thanks to the large-scale projects which will be witnessed by those countries. " Secretary General of the (FGCC Chambers) stressed that the huge events Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will witness in the coming years, most notably Qatar hosting the World Cup in 2022 , as well as hosting the United Arab Emirates for Expo 2020, will give greater impetus to this sector .(END)
