Foreign military attaches briefed on Thailand's updated situation

BANGKOK, February 11 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Army has invited military attaches from 25 countries for a briefing on Thailand's updated situation, after the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has taken control of the national administration since May 22. Lieutenant General Supakorn Sa-nguanchartsorakrai, Deputy Army Chief of Staff, told a press conference on Wednesday, after the briefing at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok, that the meeting with the foreign military attaches was a good opportunity, as issues doubted or concerned by the international community were clarified for proper and common understanding. Lieutenant General Supakorn elaborated that at the eyes-to eyes meeting, the foreign military attaches were able to raise their questions and concerns, while the Royal Thai Army provided them with explanations. Lieutenant General Supakorn noted that part of the foreign military attaches said they viewed maintaining the martial law in Thailand should not affect national image, as it is aimed to uphold national security. Regarding concerns over Thailand's political situation after former female Thai prime Yingluck Shinawatra was recently impeached by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) for her inactive response to her previous administration's loss-ridden rice-pledging scheme and would stand trial before Supreme Court's Criminal Division of Holders of Political Positions, to be soon lodged by the Office of the Attorney General, the deputy army chief of staff told journalists that Royal Thai Army Spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvari will later hold a press conference to inform the public of updates.
