Foreign Minister meets UK Minister for Human Rights

Manama, Mar. 10 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, met today through video conference with the UK Minister for Human Rights, Lord Tariq Ahmed. Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, MoFA Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Director of European Affairs and European Union Directorate, Ambassador Shaikha Aysha Ahmed Saqer Alkhalifa, United Kingdom Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Roderick Drummond, and Ambassador Mohammed Rashid Al-Suwaidi from Human Rights Division, participated in the virtual meeting. During the meeting, the two sides affirmed the depth and strength of the distinguished historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, in light of the mutual keenness to promote them in various fields, especially in human rights. They also expressed their pride in and appreciation for the steady progress of relations between the two friendly countries, reviewing the efforts made to address the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and to provide vaccines. The two sides discussed the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting human rights, including the organisation of a group of workshops by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that are concerned with preparing the national plan for human rights in Bahrain, as well as signing the Abraham Accords with the State of Israel. A number of topics of common concern were also discussed during the meeting.
