Foreign Minister participates in Counter Piracy Conference

Dubai, Oct. 29 – (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, today took part in the 4th Counter Piracy Conference whose activities kicked off early Wednesday, October 29, 2014, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, under the theme of ‘Securing State Recovery: Sustaining Momentum at Sea, Confronting Instability on Land’. The Minister’s participation falls within the high interest accorded by the Kingdom of Bahrain to whatever could maintain and reinforce security in the region and Bahrain’s keenness on contributing to the regional and global efforts, aimed at countering all the hazards and challenges threatening regional peace and security, especially piracy which imposes dangerous challenges on the region. This participation also comes to emphasize the important role being played by the kingdom of Bahrain, regionally and globally, in curbing maritime piracy and providing the necessary security and protection for international maritime passages. The conference’s activities were opened by UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahiyan, and attended by more than 600 participants including senior government officials, senior representatives of Maritime Transport Sectors and specialized academicians from around the world, to discuss piracy hazards and seek solutions to this phenomenon which started threatening world security at sea and on land and necessitating such serious collective action to seek a radical solution.
