Foreign Ministry says information on Azerbaijan's refusal to sign documents at “Eastern Partnership” - speculative

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 20 By Abbas Akhundov - Trend: Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev said the information published by various media about Azerbaijan's refusal to sign any documents at the "Eastern Partnership" summit is "speculation", and called not to pay attention to them. The third summit of "Eastern Partnership" countries will be held in Vilnius on Nov. 28-29. "We will definitely sign the visa facilitation agreement, " Mammadguliyev told Trend on Nov.20. The parties (Azerbaijan, EU) are also preparing for signing an agreement on strategic partnership on a number of spheres, mobility partnership (a special type of partnership of the EU regarding labor migration policy), a protocol about expansion of Azerbaijan's participation in EU programs and so on. According to the Deputy Minister, if before the beginning of the summit the parties have time to agree on these documents, they will be signed in Vilnius. If not, they will be signed later. When coming to the final declaration of the summit, Mammadguliyev said that currently its text is being agreed on. Earlier, Mammadguliyev said that the summit must take a serious attitude towards regional conflicts. "This should be reflected in the final declaration of the summit. Secondly, the summit should have such decisions adopted, that will make the cooperation with the EU much more noticeable for the Azerbaijani population," the deputy minister said.
