Foreign suspected bomber arrested in Thai border area

BANGKOK, September 1 (TNA) - Thai soldiers of the Burapha Task Force have arrested a second foreign man suspected to have involved in a deadly bombing attack in central Bangkok on August 17, which killed 20 victims and wounded about 120 others. The Royal Thai Police reported on Tuesday afternoon that the suspected man was rounded up and apprehended at a scrub forest, located along the Thai-Cambodian border in Aranyaprathet District of Sa Kaeo Province in the Thai East, by the Burapha Task Force's soldiers while they were patrolling the area. The suspect was carrying a black fabric bag and walking toward Cambodia. A search inside the bag found his clothes and shorts looked similar to the suspect's dress on the bombing day on August 17 at Ratchaprasong Intersection. Escorted by Deputy National Police Chief Police General Chakthip Chaichinda, the arrested suspect was then taken by a helicopter to Bangkok for further interrogation at an army camp. Meanwhile, the Min Buri Court in Bangkok approved arrest warrants against three more foreign suspects on charges of possessing explosives, as requested by police. The trio are believed to have involved in the bombing attack at Ratchaprasong Intersection on August 17 and a void bombing plot at Sathon Pier near Silom business area in the capital on August 18 although there were no casualties in the latter.
