Former Thai DPM lodges complaint against court judges

BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) - Former deputy prime minister and foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul has lodged a complaint with the Counter Corruption Division, requesting it to take legal action against Constitutional Court judges, following their recent ruling which ousted caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and nine other Cabinet members, including him. Surapong told journalists on Saturday that he asked Police Major General. Supathat Kumdee, Commander of the Counter Corruption Division, to take legal action against all the nine Constitutional Court judges, as they ruled on May 7 that Yingluck and nine other Cabinet members, including him, were guilty for the transfer of Thawil Pliensri from the National Security Council (NSC) secretary-general to an inactive post in September 2011. Surapong elaborated that the complainant on the case, appointed senator Paiboon Nititawan had asked the Constitutional Court to rule on Yingluck alone, but the nine court judges ruled that he and other eight Cabinet members were also found guilty and removed from their posts. Surapong charged that the Constitutional Court's verdict was illegal, as he was not given a chance to defend himself before the court. Investigators at the Counter Corruption Division said they will gather more evidence and then forward the case to the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) within 30 days for its further consideration.
