Four Bomb Explosions In Narathiwat Kill One Ranger, Injure 12 Other Security Personnel

NARATHIWAT (Thailand), July 15 (Bernama) -- Four bomb explosions occurred in southern Thailand today, killing one ranger and injuring 12 other security forces personnel. The first explosion occurred at 8.50 am in Kg Bangul Satol in the Ranget district in Narathiwat. Ranget Police chief Pol. Col. Pakdee Preechachon said the 50kg bomb, planted on a road, forced a pickup truck carrying seven patrolling rangers into the air, killing a sergeant on the spot and badly injuring the other six rangers. The second explosion took place at 11 am in Kg Pileng, Marubo Naik, in the Chok Irong district, targeted at six rangers on their way to meet villagers but none of them was injured. More than two hours later, at 1.30 pm, a bomb exploded in Kg Dohek in the Sungai Padi district, injuring four people's volunteer corps members on patrol. Sungai Padi Police chief Pol. Col. Suwarod Lunhawittayanon said the home-made 50kg bomb was placed in a gas tank and planted by the roadside. The fourth explosion occurred at 4 pm in Kampong Tolang in the Ranget district and was targeted at rangers on patrol. It injured two rangers. --BERNAMA
