Four drug traffickers arrested

BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) - Narcotic suppression police arrested suspected drug traffickers with 36,000 speed pills and two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine of “ice” while they were heading for buyers in the far South. Pol Lt Gen Rewat Klinkaysorn, commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, said four drug traffickers were arrested in the drug suppression operation. One of them, Rachen Triphet, drove a Ford vehicle registered in Nakhon Sawan province carrying the illicit drugs passing Chumphon province. He had a friend as his passenger. They were stopped for a search at a checkpoint in Tha Sae district of Chumphon and were arrested as police found the illicit drugs in the vehicle. Information from them led police to arrest the two other suspects who arrived at a department store in Hat Yai district of Songkhla province to receive the drugs from the first two suspects. Mr Rachen and his friend confessed that they took the drugs from their supplier who had hidden them at a specified location in Sukhumvit area and they were hired for 200,000 baht per trip to deliver the drugs to three southern border provinces. They said they had done the trafficking twice and the other two persons who would receive the drugs were hired for 2,000 baht each time. (TNA)
