Four Foreign Envoys Present Credentials To Malaysia's King

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Four new foreign envoys to Malaysia on Tuesday presented their credentials to the Malaysia's King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at the Istana Negara (National Palace) here. They were Carlos Dominguez Diaz from Spain, Daniel Dargent (Belgium), Benjamin Clement Eghan (Ghana) and Kang Chol of North Korea. Tuanku Abdul Halim and Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah also granted an audience to the four envoys. Also present were Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainuddin and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Othman Hashim. Diaz, 47, is a law graduate from Sevilla University and also the former Spanish Secretary General of Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Dargent, 56, who holds a Bachelors degree in international relations and public administration, meanwhile, had served as the Belgian Ambassador to Gabon (2004-2007) and Angola (2007-2011). Eghan, 66, was formerly Ghanaian Chief Minister at the Transport and Communications Ministry and had also served as the Secretary to the Cabinet from 2009 to 2013. Having joined the North Korean Foreign Service since 1976, Kang, 61, had also served as the First Secretary at the North Korean Embassy in Somalia and as the Director-General of Administration at the North Korean Foreign Ministry. At the ceremony, Tuanku Abdul Halim also presented the instruments of appointment to four Malaysian envoys. They are Lim Kim Eng, who will be commissioned to New Zealand, Rahimi Harun (Brazil), Saiful Azam Martinus Abdullah (Croatia) dan Roslan Abdul Rahman (Azerbaijan). --BERNAMA
