Four Police Officers, Journalist Arrested On Drug Charges

Jakarta, Jan 17 (Antara) -- The Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested four police officers and a journalist for allegedly possessing drugs. "(The suspects include) three police officers of the South Jakarta Police, one officer of the National Police Headquarters, and a civilian," a spokesman for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Snr. Comsr. Martinus Sitompul, said here on Saturday. The police officers were identified by their initials as 2nd Brig. Nur, 1st Brig. Sus, 2nd Adj. Insp. Suk, and 2nd Adj. Insp. AAK. They arrested 2nd Brig. Nur, who is a member of the South Jakarta Police's quick response unit (Samapta), at his rented house on Jalan Syaip Gang Kemped No, 2-B RT10/02 South Gandaria, Cilandak sub-district, South Jakarta. While searching his home, officers seized 0.8 grams of crystal meth, an electric scale and a bong from him. According to Sitompul, 1st Brig. Sus, who is a member of the South Jakarta Police's security intelligence unit, was arrested on charge of possessing 1.03 grams of crystal meth. They seized an electric scale and a bong from him, as well. As much as 15 grams of crystal meth, an electric scale and a bong were confiscated by the police from 2nd Adj. Inps. AAK. In addition, Sitompul stated that officers also nabbed a television journalist in front of Indah Jaya Shop in Jalan Fatmawati, South Jakarta, for allegedly possessing drugs.
