Free trains to royal cremation

SONGKHLA, Oct 23 – Huge crowds of people were gathering at the Hat Yai train station to seek free train tickets to attend the royal cremation of King Rama IX. They responded to the decision of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to deploy two free trains for people to travel to Bangkok for the royal cremation on Oct 26. Free train trips were scheduled on Oct 23, 25, 28 and 30. All Bangkok-bound trains with air-conditioned sleeping carriages from the South were fully booked for trips from mid this month to Oct 30 as people were traveling to Bangkok for the royal cremation and related activities.
