French Foreign Minister arrives to Baghdad

BAGHDAD / NINA / French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius arrive to Baghdad on Sunday morning 10, August on an official visit during which he will meet a number of officials. A government source told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / "Fabius would discuss with Iraqi officials the bilateral relations and the security and humanitarian situation resulting from the displacement of large numbers of people during the terrorist attacks by the Islamic State (IS) to their areas. France has expressed its deep concern towards progress of the terrorist organization in northern Iraq, and its control over Qaraqosh area, the largest Christian city in Iraq and the unacceptable violations committed by (IS). Laurent Fabius, the French foreign minister said according to a statement by the French Foreign Ministry: the seriousness of the situation suffered by the civilian population and religious minorities, France calls emergency meeting of the Security Council, so as the international community moves to confront the terrorist threat in Iraq and to provide assistance and protection to threatened populations. / End
