French senator lauds Bahrain's labour achievements

Manama, July 30 (BNA) : Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan received here today the Head of the French Senate Delegation on Local and Regional Authorities and Decentralisation Senator Jean-Marie Bockel, currently on a visit to the kingdom. The meeting focused on ways to enhance the Bahraini-French relations and broadening areas of cooperation, especially in the labour and human resources development fields. The minister informed the French senator about the kingdom’s efforts and initiatives implemented by the Labour Ministry, citing the the labour market reform project, employment and training programs, the insurance against unemployment, the advanced laws and legislation which protect the rights of workers from all nationalities and support to the private sector to enable it to play its role in boosting the national economy and generating job opportunities for Bahrainis. He pointed out that all indicators show stability in the labour market and an increase in the number of job opportunities in various sectors. They also indicate the kingdom’s continuous ability to maintain unemployment rates at their natural and secure levels according to international standards, he added. Senator Bockhel said that Bahrain represents a role model in Arab region given its pioneering initiatives in reforming the labour market, developing human resources and protecting the rights of workers without discrimination. Such advanced steps are highly appreciated by France, he said, affirming that he is well informed about the progress witnessed by the kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The French senator lauded the transparency of all government bodies regarding the publication of all labour market indicators. He called for the need to exert more efforts to highlight the kingdom’s political, economic and social achievements and project the real image of the kingdom’s progress in all fields.
