Frosts seen on Thailand's Doi Inthanont

CHIANG MAI, November 15 (TNA) - Local villagers and tourists visiting to Doi Intanont, Thailand's highest peak in the northern resort Chiang Mai Province, now need to kindle fire to warm themselves up, as temperatures there have plunged to 1-4 degrees Celsius. The local villagers and international tourists in Chiang Mai's Chom Thong District, where the Intanont Mount is located, have also observed frosts in the early hours of days. The Chiang Mai Governor on Tuesday declared Sa Merng District an additional cold-stricken disaster area, after Om-Koi District was declared the province's first cold-stricken disaster area last week, with a total of nearly 60,000 blankets and winter jackets now needed for the two districts' villagers. Meanwhile, Chiang Mai's Galyani Vadhana District is likely to be soon declared another cold-hit disaster area, as temperatures there have dropped below 10 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days.
