Fujian-Malaysia Tourism Promotion Center, Symbol Of Strong Bilateral Relationship

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- The Fujian-Malaysia Tourism Promotion Centre, which is set up in Malaysia, is a symbol of the strong bilateral ties between China and Malaysia that have been established for a long time. In stressing this, Tourism Malaysia chairman, Wee Choo Keong said that the centre, being the first ever effort by the Fujian Provincial Tourism Bureau to set up their promotion centre outside of Fujian, is a crucial step to promote Fujian as well as Malaysia to further encourage the arrival of tourists not only to Fujian but also to Malaysia. "I believe this two-way mutual relationship will certainly benefit both nations and this will eventually generate a large amount of income to our country. "This is also another method to promote Malaysia among the Fujian people who are always interested in visiting our country," Wee told Bernama after officiating the opening ceremony of the Fujian-Malaysia Tourism Promotion Centre, here Saturday. Also present was Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial Tourism Bureau Chen Yi Hui. Fujian, which is located on the southeast coast of China and has a population of 34 million people, is famous among tourists for its luscious mountains and crystal clear shallow streams. As one of the earliest provinces opening to the outside world, Fujian has launched 12 national development zones and special economic zones, bringing about an all-round opening-up configuration. Wee also stressed that with the Fujian promotion counter being stationed here, it will help Malaysia to further boost Malaysia's tourism economy as China is currently the third largest country in terms of tourist arrival to Malaysia. "China has always been a big market to us as it contributes significantly to our nation's economy and wealth. "Furthermore this new partnership will create an interactive experience between the two countries. "We hope to have more provinces from China to set up their promotion centre here not only as a symbol of mutual benefit between both countries but to further strengthen the ties that we have maintained for a long time now," he said. --BERNAMA
