Garcia Lorca’s “Blood Wedding” inspires Tehran art exhibit

TEHRAN,Oct.28(MNA) -- A video art and a collection photos inspired by Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca’s “Blood Wedding” are currently on display at Tehran’s Siin Gallery. The collection, which comprises 10 photos, and the video art have been created by Ali Saadatmand. “I got the idea to create the collection after watching a film, which was based the play,” Saadatmand said. “I chose models and tested some styles of makeup on them. Then I designed scenes to give the same sense of grief and violence that the play has,” he added Choosing the models, finalizing the makeup, designing the scenes, and taking the photos took him four months. “Blood Wedding” is a tragedy written in 1932 and first performed in Madrid in March 1933 and later that year in Buenos Aires. The exhibition will run until November 3 at the gallery located at No.16, Alley 12, Southern Piruzan St., off Hormozan Ave., in the Shahrak Gharb neighborhood.
