Garuda Proposes Ten Flight Schedules In Halim Airport

Jakarta, Jan 8 (Antara) - Garuda Indonesia airways has proposed that ten flight schedules be transferred from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport. "Garuda has proposed to the Transportation Ministry that ten flight schedules be operated from Halim. We have yet to get the approval from the Ministry," stated Head of Garuda Public Relation Pujobroto in an interview with Antara here, on Wednesday. Pujobroto explained that the flight base transfer to Halim Airport is aimed at lessening the traffic at Soekarno-Hatta airport, as Garuda has 520 flight schedules which mainly operates from the airport that is located in the Tangerang Regency. He pointed out that Garuda will transfer ten flight schedules to Halim after the Ministry approves of the proposal. Garuda will also improve the service at Halim Airport similar to the one at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in order to cater to passenger service. "We will need to establish facilities such as executive lounge, parking area and proper check in counters," Pujobroto pointed out. He added that Garuda will need at least 30 days to build these facilities, once the Ministry nods its approval. Garuda, he explained, is still considering the flight routes that will be transferred to Halim Airport. Pujobroto added that Garuda will select the highest frequency routes to be transferred to Halim such as Surabaya-Jakarta that has 18 flights a day. The Halim Airport will operate as a commercial airport serving at least 66 domestic flights in a day. "We will serve commercial domestic flights. The airport currently serves only private lines for domestic and overseas flights," emphasized General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II Halim Airport Iwan Khrishadianto.
