GCC Anti-corruption Authorities to Meet in Doha Wednesday

Doha, April 28 (QNA) - Doha will hosts a meeting of heads of GCC anti-corruption authorities and agencies on Wednesday. The two-day meeting will discuss issues related to the protection of integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries. The meeting, to be attended by the heads of agencies responsible for protecting integrity and combating corruption in the GCC countries, will address recommendations on the proposals prepared by the committee of experts. The recommendations were discussed by the undersecretaries or assistants of GCC anti-corruption authorities at their meeting which was held in Doha last February. The meeting's agenda includes several issues related to coordination and cooperation between the GCC countries in the protection of integrity and combating corruption mechanisms. It will also review proposals submitted by the agencies responsible for protecting integrity and fighting corruption in the GCC countries. HE President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud said that the meeting, which will be hosted by Doha, would enhance the GCC joint action in fighting corruption and achieving a high degree of integrity and transparency. He added that the heads of GCC bodies concerned with the protection of integrity and combating corruption will discuss means and mechanisms to promote the GCC countries' efforts that aimed at reaching a common vision on how to protect the integrity and fight corruption in all its forms and manifestations. The meeting, he said, will also help in determining a unified GCC position in regional and international forums with regards to the phenomenon of corruption. (QNA)
