GCC DAYS in Tokyo conclude

Tokyo, Apr.24 (BNA): The tenth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Days has concluded in Tokyo, Japan. The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) took part in three-day event that included economic, political and media seminars which aimed at consolidating cooperation, friendship and promoting dialogue between the GCC member states and Japan. Leading Media and economy figures, diplomats and academics from the GCC stated and Japan took part in the GCC Days which started last Wednesday (April24). Previous days were organised in Paris, Brussels, Berlin, The Hague, Madrid, Rome, London and Seoul. The last GCC Days were in the Swedish capital Stockholm in November 2013. The final day featured a key forum which shed light on media cooperation between GCC countries and Japan. Bahrain contributed to the symposium with a paper which focused specially on "crisis media". IAA Media Follow-up Director Maysa Abdullateef Al-Thawadi stressed the crucial role of media in dealing with natural and human-related crises in our contemporary world. Addressing the final session of the three-day GCC-Japan Symposium, she highlighted the huge impact of modern mass media and telecommunications in shaping public opinion trends and dealing with emergencies and disasters, focusing particularly on the reality of crisis media in the GCC countries.
