GCC news agencies to strengthen cooperation

RIYADH, 22nd January, 2016 (WAM) – Officials of the news agencies in the GCC countries met in Riyadh yesterday to discuss ways of enhancing co-operation and adopting a unified vision towards regional and international issues. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) delegation was headed by its Executive Director, Jamal Nasser Al Suwaidir, who said the officials reviewed the GCC General Secretariat's report which defines the resolutions pertaining to the concepts of common GCC citizenship and common market. The meeting also discussed proposals by different news agencies on facilitating news and imagery dissemination, exchange of visits, launching a unified portal for the GCC news agencies and rolling out a smartphone app for the GCC news. Participants welcomed a proposal by WAM to create social media accounts for the GCC news agencies.
