German Foreign Minister: Controlling Those Who Are Going to Fight in Iraq and Syria Is Very Difficult And Turkey Must Cooperate

BAGHDAD / NINA / German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier described controlling elements, who are going to fight in Iraq and Syria is very difficult. Steinmeier said at a joint news conference with his American counterpart, John Kerry in Berlin that there is broad cooperation in the intelligence field among many countries in order to reduce the trend of young people from different countries to go to Iraq and Syria to fight in the ranks of extremist organizations. He confirmed that thousands of young people went to Turkey and said we cannot determine their destination as if they were heading to fight or tourism, noting that authorities stopped hundreds of young people heading out there, but it is difficult to control their movement because it is too high, stressing the importance of Turkey's cooperation in this area as a first destination that the young go before traveling to Syria or Iraq. / End
