German Tourism Expert Highlights Iranˈs Tourist Attractions

Berlin, May 11, IRNA - A German tourism expert highlighted Iranˈs tourist attractions in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of Berlinˈs 47th ITB tourism fair. Peter Kerber who has written a 575-page book on Iranˈs tourist attractions, stressed he had been emotionally attached to Iran ever since he worked in Iran for a German pharmaceutical company for six years before and six years after the Islamic revolution. I used to read adventure books on Iran as a 12-year-old child and later on my childhood dreams became true as I worked and lived in Iran and I saw the mesmerizing beauty of the country during my frequent trips throughout Iran, Kerber said. His decision to write a book on Iranˈs tourist attractions was partially geared at putting the country on the worldˈs tourist map, according to the German expert. Kerber stressed Iran had tremendous tourism potential not only because of its rich culture and history but also its beautiful landscapes, especially its many national parks. He called for greater investments in Iranˈs tourist infrastructure sector. Kerber urged also Iran to boost its tourist marketing efforts in Germany by opening an official tourism office which could address the needs of those Germans interested in visiting the country./end
