Germany calls on talks for peaceful solution to Thailand's political strife

BANGKOK, December 11 (TNA) - Germany has called on a political debate and dialogue within the constitutional framework by all parties concerned in Thailand for the sake of a peaceful solution to the ongoing domestic political strife. German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said in a statement issued in Madrid, Spain's capital, on December 10, that he was worried over the potential for the further escalation of Thailand's political protest and would like to propose that all those in the positions of political responsibility act with moderation and restraint so that the situation would not spiral out of control. The German Foreign Minister suggested what is needed now is not confrontation, but political debate and dialogue within Thailand's constitutional framework to sustain national peace and order. The German Foreign Minister cautioned that further violence and the spilling of yet more blood on streets, if so, would be a serious setback for democracy, political stability, as well as social and economic development in Thailand.(TNA)
