GJU's secretary-general lauds Bahrain Journalism Day

Manama, May 7 (BNA): The Gulf Journalism Union (GJU)'s Secretary-General Nasser Mohammed Al-Othman, hailed HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister's patronage for the Bahrain Journalism Day celebrations. Al-Othman said the Prime Minister's patronage of this event was not only a recognition of the Bahraini newspapers and journalists but also an appreciation of the whole Gulf journalists and the press and a high incentive for youths to join this vocation whose responsibilities have increased nowadays, especially in view of the transformations witnessed in the region whereas journalism has become an important weapon which is not less powerful than any other weaponry and which increases in its power as long as the space of available freedoms continues to increase. He said this is an occasion to express on behalf of the Gulf Journalism Union gratitude to His Royal Highness the Prime Minister who has embraced this GCC establishment and has been the prime cause of its creation and thriving. He also appreciated all that the Kingdom of Bahrain provides to the Gulf Journalists Union in terms of support to carry out its role of contribution in the Gulf press cooperation. The Gulf Journalism Union was established in 2005 and publicized in 1009 which takes care of development of Gulf journalists and supports responsible press freedoms.
