Global effort needed to fight terror - Russian Security Council chief

MOSCOW, April 27./TASS/. Russia has been repeatedly emphasizing a need for joint action of all countries across the globe in fight against terrorism, Russian Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev said on Wednesday. "A terrorist attack on a Russian plane over Sinai, a chain of terror attacks in Europe and other regions of the globe should make the global community realize the thesis Russia has been trying to convey since long - it is necessary to ensure a joint effort of all countries of the globe in fight against terrorism," Patrushev said in the opening remarks at a Moscow conference on international security. "The implementation of this task will require serious political will, while differences and contradictions existing between states must get to the background," he went on. "Cooperation of Russia and the US on Syria proves convincingly that such cooperation is not only possible, but also efficient," he said. "This is especially important in conditions when international terrorist organizations continue involving in their activity more and more new allies. Activity of terrorists is growing as concerns national armed forces and law enforcement agencies. We see growth in recruiting activity, including through social networking systems. "Radicals returning from zones of warfare are especially dangerous," the Security Council chief said, noting that "the current situation in international affairs requires our more resolute and coordinated action".
