Gobi bear becomes Animal of pride of Gobi-Altai

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ One of the endangered species, Gobi bear or Mazaalai has been named as the Animal of pride of Gobi-Altai aimag. Such a decision was made by the Citizens' Representative Khural of this province July 16. Gobi-Altai aimag is a place of many rare and rarest in the world animals such as saiga, takhi (Przewalski's horse), wild camel, snow leopard, wild sheep, wild goat, wild ass and black-tailed deer. The Gobi bear has been listed as the endangered species in the Red Book of Mongolia. According to the latest survey, there are only eight female and 14 male bears left. They live in 3-4 families on a 2.1 million hectares in mountainous areas of Tsagaan Bogd, Atas-Inges and Shar Khuls.
