Golkar Seeking Transparent Diversion Of Fuel Subsidy

Jakarta, Nov 18 (Antara) - The government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Jusuf Kalla should ensure transparency while implementing their decision to divert fuel oil subsidy, stated Nurul Arifin, the deputy secretary general of Golkar Party. "There must be transparency, and an explanation must be tendered for the fuel price hike," Nurul commented here on Tuesday in response to the government`s decision to hike the subsidized fuel oil prices from Rp6.6 thousand to Rp8.5 thousand per liter. She opined that the decision to raise the fuel oil prices would certainly lower public trust in the government as Jokowi`s political promise made during the election campaign to not raise the subsidized fuel prices is still fresh in the minds of the people. Nurul noted that the government`s promise to divert the fuel oil subsidy to productive sectors such as infrastructure development should be fulfilled at the earliest. "It must be realized as soon as possible, so that the public can enjoy the benefits being promised by the government," she added.
