GOP has no choice but to accept Iran's power: Kharrazi

Tehran, March 15, IRNA – Republicans in the US have no choice but to accept Iran's power, Kamal Kharrazi a member of Strategic Council for Foreign Policy said on Sunday. He made the remarks in a message released on Sunday to elaborate the Leaders' remarks about collapse of political ethics in US. Republicans have no other choice but to accept Iran's power even if they win the presidential elections, Kharrazi noted. He said political ethics in US have collapsed and American politicians have shown that they are not committed to their national obligations. According to the international rules and regulations, all governments should respect the international treaties signed by their predecessors, Kharrazi underlined. He underscored that some US senators are sacrificing American public interests to the benefit of Zionist regime. No country and no government can deny the reality of Iran as a regional power, the former foreign minister said. He compared US President Barack Obama's behavior towards Iran to former President Richard Nixon behavior towards China and said that even a republican president like Nixon accepted China as a big power. Iran has already become a regional power and this is only a beginning for Iran, Kharrazi asserted. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has played down the recent letter by 47 US senators who threatened to abort or change any possible nuclear deal between the US administration and Iran. According to international norms, governments are bound to their commitments and those rules cannot be breached with the change of governments, Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing members of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Thursday. He underlined that the Iranian officials are skilled and know how to act in case of an agreement so that the US administration cannot breach its undertakings after that. Ayatollah Khamenei said the letter of US Senators on Iran is a sign of 'collapse of political ethics' in the US. He also voiced support for the team of Iranian diplomats engaged in nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany), and said that the members of the team appointed by the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani were 'good, honest and sincere people who are working for the advancement of the country in future'. The Leader went on to express concern that “the other side is cunning and deceitful and used to stabbing in the back'. He further went on to comment on the March 3 speech of the Zionist regime’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the US Congress, and said the US officials embarked on making certain remarks just because a 'Zionist clown' had gone there and uttered something. He said they made the remarks and also tried to accuse Iran of terrorism in an attempt to put themselves on the safe side. Ayatollah Khamenei said the remarks of the US officials were “humorous, unworthy and disgusting”.
