Government denies report on fee for right on Wild Boars movie

BANGKOK, Oct 15 (TNA) - The government’s constructive media committee denied that movie-production rights have been offered to any party for the production of a movie on the rescue of 13 people of the Moo Pa (Wild Boars) football team from the flooded Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province. Lt Gen Weerachon Sukondhapatipak, spokesman of the committee, quoted the football team’s coach Ekapol Chanthawong as saying that no one had signed any contract with any movie company. He was responding to news reports that Universal Pictures already paid 49 million baht in exchange for the movie production right to the coach and his 12 young footballers. The young boys and their coach had been trapped in the flooded Tham Luang cave in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai from June 23 to July 10. Local and international parties joined forces to rescue them successfully in their amazing mission. The football team and the coach were on their trip to Argentina and the United States to express their gratitude towards international organizations for their support for the rescue. Lt Gen Weerachon said that the constructive media committee had yet to work out a framework and guideline for movie production in relation to the rescue. The committee would meet and discuss the issue on Oct 17, he said. (TNA)
