Government takes care of affected Thai students in Egypt

BANGKOK, August 27 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has promised to take care of Thai students affected by the ongoing political violence in Egypt. Yingluck reassured on Tuesday that her government will provide assistance to the affected Thai students in Egypt in every aspect, especially on education and living. The prime minister acknowledged that she has assigned Deputy Education Minister Sermsak Pongpanich to coordinate with parties concerned in rendering assistance to the affected Thai students. The prime minister made the remarks when a group of 25 Thai students and their families who recently evacuated from Egypt, led by President of Arab Alumni Association Wutthichai Wangbu, paid a courtesy call on her earlier in the day to present a bouquet as a token of gratitude to the government for arranging charter flights to bring them home safely from the unrest-plagued northeastern African nation. On the occasion, the students and their families wished the Thai premier to head her administration smoothly until the end of her four-year tenure and to be re-elected for another four-year term. The prime minister expressed her concerns over Thai people who remain in Egypt and insisted on the government's policy on assisting them in all aspects. (TNA)
