Governors ordered to promote Thainess tourism

BANGKOK, June 25 (TNA) -- The Interior Ministry has reiterated to all governors nationwide to promote the Thainess tourism policy to expand income to local communities. Permanent Secretary for Interior Chayapol Thitisak, in hit capacity as the ministry's spokesman, said the National Tourism Policy committee, in which Deputy Prime Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragon is the chairman, has approved the continuous promotion of the Thainess tourism in the country and ordered the Interior Ministry to be the main agency to integrate all operations related to the campaign with an aim to better develop tourist destinations. The ministry has then ordered all governors to integrate cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as the local communities to lift the standard of local tourism industries, while also increasing facilities and safety, along with implement stricter prevention measures to ensure that tourists would not be taken advantages of. The spokesman said for seaside tourist destinations, the ministry has set up stricter safety measures and improve beach management, as well as constructed observations towers, and stationed lifeguards and equipment to provide immediate assistance to visitors in case of emergencies or accidents. He noted the the ministry has targeted to implement the same measure in all concerned areas by year's end, and would like to ask for cooperation from local entrepreneurs to display a diversified group of products for sales, especially those of OTOP products to help spread income to the local communities and villages.
