Govt to impose stricter law on traffic violators

BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) - The government is considering to impose a stricter law on traffic violators after finding that the number of fatalities from road accidents has increased during the ‘Seven Dangerous Days’ of Songkran festival. Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittyapaisith told a press conference that nearly 400 people died and over 3,200 others injured from more than 3,000 road accidents during the past six days of the so-called ‘Seven Dangerous Days’ of the water-splashing festival. Although the number of road accidents has declined during the festival this year, the number of those killed has increased and the government has to conduct a study of the behaviours of motorists in the country. He said the government may have to increase penalty on traffic violators. (TNA)
