Govt to launch city development project

BANGKOK, June 15 (TNA) - The government plans to launch a city development project, aimed at improving the livelihood of the people. Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan, Wiboon Sanguanpong, Permanent Secretary for Interior, and Natee Khlibtong, Director of National Village and Urban Comminity Fund, jointly said during the weekly TV and radio programme sponsored by the prime minister, that the project, called ‘Roi Mue Sang Muang’ in Thai, is one of the major polices of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and is aimed at improving people’s livelihood and enable them to have an access to public health services. Stressing that the project is not a duplication to the Village Fund and the small, medium and large-sized projects, Niwattumrong said it has clear objectives in upgrading people’s livelihood and allowing them to help manage their communities. Natee said the project would encourage people living in a community of between 50-100 households to propose projects which are beneficial on a sustainable basis and could meet demand of people living in the area. According to Wiboon, the Interior Ministry would help implement the project by working with provincial governors, related agencies and people in the community areas. (TNA)
