Govt to solve illegal labour problem in fishing industry

BANGKOK, Nov 30 (TNA) - Labour Minister Gen. Surasak Kanchanarat is preparing to set up a task force committee in solving illegal labour problems in the fishing industry following a warning on possible boycotting imports of Thai seafood products by the European Union (EU), according to Noppadol Kannikar, an adviser to the minister. Noppadol said the EU Commission issued a warning and would give Thailand six months from now to make progress in addressing illegal labour problems in its fisheries industry. Thailand’s fisheries exports to the EU, a major importer of Thailand’s seafood products, could be impacted if no satisfactory result is seen, according to the EU’s warning. (TNA)
