GPIC achieves best-ever monthly production

Manama, Sept. 5 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) produced a record 136,592 tons of Ammonia, Urea and Methenol in August, Company President Dr.Abdulrahman Jawahery stated yesterday. This best-ever monthly figure was achieved without any lost time accident, Dr. Jawahery said, adding that GPIC is committed to the highest standards of safety and health. He said the achievement comes as a result of the Company’s approach on continuing to modernise its operational processes for plants and equipment and a commitment to implementing periodic maintenance procedures, as well as development of Human Resources. He said the latest training programmes are always available for all employees to continuously develop their professional skills and knowledge. Dr. Jawahery expressed confidence in the abilities of Bahrainis to take advantage of training opportunities provided by the Company's Management to encourage and help them to accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively. The President said the Company strives to excel within a challenging industry and said such recordsare as a result of the flexible strategy adopted by the Board of Directors under the Chairmanship of H.E Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, which takes into account the changes taking place in the industry. He praised the professionalism of the Executive Management and all employees who, he said, co-operated in a one-family spirit. Dr. Jawahery said all of these have contributed to achieving several records and said he had no doubt the Companywould achieve more successes, while preserving the environment simultaneously. Dr. Jawahery mentioned that GPIC follows internationally recognised systems for the protection of the environment and occupational health and safety, as well as providing responsible care. He spoke about the honours and Awards, which show the excellence and quality of the Company’s products and the safety of its operational systems. He said GPIC is also keen on training national cadres, both within the Companyand outside, to achieve sustainability in operations and services to the community. GPIC has, in recent years, witnessed growth in its production processes, which have resulted in achieving record numbers not only in production, employment and export levels, but also in the field of Maintenance and Safety, making the Company an example of a clean, green and successful industrial entity. Dr. Jawahery reiterated GPIC’s commitment to health and safety, the environment and social responsibility issues and said this had made the Company a positive role modelin the private sector. He said the Company supports and takes part in various activities and events held by the institutions of civil society associations and professional clubs and institutions as payback to the community. GPIC President said the Company has also played a major rolein rationalising the use of energy and water to meet the challenges ahead.
