Grounds Prepared For Export Of Aquatics To Russia

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov., Oct 8, IRNA – Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Seyed Hassan Salehi said on Tuesday that with regard to the present demands preliminaries have been taken for the export of aquatics and other fishery products to Russia. He said statistics show that Russia imports 100 thousand tons of aquatics, including 35 thousand tons of shrimps annually. Referring to the recent visit of the Iranian president to Russia’s Astrakhan, Salehi said export of aquatics to Russia was on the agenda. He added that with regard to sisterhood of Hormuzgan and Astrakhan, the Iranian province enjoys a more appropriate condition in this regard. He pointed to development of aquatics exports from Iran as one of the main topics of discussion between presidents of Iran and Russia and said 10 capable Iranian companies have announced readiness to hold a number of sessions in this connection. Outlining fishery activities in Iran, the official said Hormuzgan with 180 thousand tons of different aquatics catch annually, with orientation on aquatics consumed abroad, is capable of meeting over 60% of the Russian market need for sea food. Hormuzgan Province with 180 thousand tons of aquatic catch per year stands first. It also stands second after Bushehr in the field of shrimp catch which has been announced to be 15 thousand tons annually./end
