Guatemala asks Russia to contribute to sending its first astronaut to space - Lavrov

GUATEMALA, March 26. /TASS/. Russia will consider the request by Guatemala to dispatch a Guatemalan astronaut to the Russian training center, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint news conference with his Guatemalan counterpart Carlos Morales. "We have received a request regarding the possibility to send a Guatemalan astronaut to the training center in the Russian Federation," Lavrov said. "We will certainly consider the request, it is addressed to our space agency, which will study this address jointly with other countries members of the International Space Station project." The Guatemalan minister, in turn, said he hopes "the first astronaut from Guatemala will be able to go to space thanks to the program existing in Russia." Read more
