Gulf Times: Qatar Strengthens Its Position as World's Largest Producer and Exporter of LNG

Doha, February 14 (QNA) - The English Gulf Times newspaper confirmed Sunday that Qatar Petroleum (QP)'s recent investment decision on North Field East Project (NFE) will further consolidate Qatar's position as the top liquefied natural gas producer and exporter in the world. The newspaper said that the NFE is one of the global energy industry's largest investments in the past few years, in addition, to be the largest LNG capacity addition ever, and the most competitive LNG project in the world. The newspaper underlined that the project will raise Qatar's LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per year (mmtpy) to 110 mmtpy by 2025. In addition to LNG, the project will produce condensate, LPG, ethane, sulphur and helium, the paper added. The newspaper highlighted the statements of HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi in which he said "This project will generate substantial revenues for Qatar and will have significant benefits for all sectors of the Qatari economy during the construction phase and beyond. This investment decision is a clear demonstration of the steadfast commitment by Qatar to supply the world with the clean energy it needs." The newspaper stressed in the conclusion of its editorial that the project will have significant multiplier effects on the local economy with companies in Qatar hugely benefiting from the North Field LNG Expansion Project.
