Hamavayan prepares for cross-country tour

TEHRAN,Sept.21(MNA) – The Iranian musical ensemble Hamavayan, led by tar and setar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh, will begin a cross-country tour that takes them to five Iranian provinces in Tehran on October 3. Vocalist Mohammad Motamedi will accompany the ensemble in its performances in the provinces of Tehran, Fars, Mazandaran, Gilan, Kermanshah, and West Azarbaijan, Alizadeh said at a press conference held on Thursday. The first part of each concert will be dedicated to performing songs in the Azari language, although none of the members of the band know Azari, because “we want to show our love for our Azari people,” Alizadeh said. A collection of poetry from traditional Iranian songs has been selected for the second part of each concert, he added. “We also have plans to make use of local singers and musicians in each region where we will be giving a concert,” he said. He went on to say that it has long been his desire to play a concert in every city of Iran. The ensemble is scheduled to perform concerts at Tehran’s Milad Tower on October 3 and 4, in Shiraz (Fars Province) on October 10 and 11, in Amol (Mazandaran) on October 14, in Kermanshah (Kermanshah Province) on October 18, in Rasht (Gilan) on October 19 and 20, and in Tabriz (West Azarbaijan) on October 24 and 25.
