Hamdan bin Zayed directs ERC to provide urgent relief to IDPs in Iraqi Kurdistan

Abu Dhabi (WAM): H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent, has directed that urgent relief aid at a total value of Dh 22 million be delivered to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraqi Kurdistan region, who have fled their homes as a result of recent events in the region. A relief delegation from ERC will tomorrow head to Erbil, Iraq, where it will receive a shipment of medicines that have been sent from the U.A.E. to the Kurdistan Regional Government to enable it address the acute shortage of medicines in the region as a result of large numbers of displaced people and to cope with the deteriorating health situation for many of them. The delegation will also purchase 100,000 food baskets from the local market in Kurdistan for distribution to the displaced people who are suffering from scarcity of food.
