Hanif Al Qasim: UAE presents a unique role model in tolerance and peaceful coexistence

DUBAI, 2nd June, 2015 (WAM) -- Dr. Hanif Al Qasim, Chairman of the Geneva Centre for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue, has emphasised that the UAE is presenting a unique role model in the field of spreading tolerance, cooperation and solidarity among peoples, as well as adopting distinguished hospitality mechanisms provided to multiple nationalities living in the country despite the diversity of their cultures. He added that this has contributed to enhancing the country's cultural achievements whereby it ranks first globally in the field of peaceful coexistence of 200 nationalities, according to a report issued by the UN International Organisation for Peace, Care and Relief for 2014. Al Qasim made the remarks during a forum organised in his Majlis in Dubai under the title, "Moderation in the face of religious extremism" with the participation of thinker and writer, Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, other figures and senior officials. Al Qasim added that the principles and values of the Islamic religion such as tolerance, rejection of violence, extremism and freedom of religion and how to co-exist and cooperate with others, had established a future vision for the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He added that Sheikh Zayed's legacy is followed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as the Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates.
