Hat Yai more lively on Malaysian National Day

HAT YAI, THAILAND, August 31 (TNA) - Malaysian tourists have flocked across the border into Hat Yai of Thailand's southern Songkhla province on the occasion of the Malaysian National Day. The business heart of Hat Yai welcomed them today by organising the "Hat Yai Street Carnival 2013", the first of it kind, to promote tourism in the area. In the mean time, the district's security unit has deployed more authorities around the business heart of the city to beef up security, along with increasing frequencies of patrols. August 31 of every year is the Malaysian National Day, and also the anniversary of the founding of the Bersatu or The United Front for the Independent of Pattani, prompting Thai officials to strengthen security in the 4 districts along the borders of the three southernmost provinces, including, Hat Yai.
