Barcelona, August 01 (QNA) - The High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), HE Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, has stressed that the international community is able to eliminate violent extremism and radicalism through dialogue between cultures and religions, and through practical approaches and constructive initiatives aimed at achieving building trust between various communities and long-term cooperative partnerships that take into account the common interest of international peace and security.    This came during HE Al-Nasser's participation upon an official invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain, Jose Manuel Garcia, in a high-level meeting on dialogue between cultures and religions held at the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) headquarters in Barcelona and concluded last night. This is the first meeting to be held on a long-term action plan aimed at strengthening the capacity of organizations and promoting inter-cooperation to contribute to address discrimination and intolerance. At the meeting held at the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain were representatives of the UNAOC chaired by HE Al-Nasser, UfM, Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) and King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID). The high-level meeting on dialogue between cultures and religions coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Barcelona Process and comes within the framework of the continuous consultation on the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) and in response to the growing importance of promoting dialogue between cultures and religions in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
