HE Minister of Energy and Industry Meets US Counterpart, Heads of Energy Companies

Washington, October 01 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada has met during his current official visit to the United States with his American counterpart Ernest Moniz. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the energy situation in the world and developments and challenges in the oil and gas markets. They also discussed Qatar Petroleum investments in the United States, in addition to bilateral cooperation in energy field. HE Al Sada also met with a number of heads of major energy companies in the US city of Houston in Texas, led by Exxon Mobil, ConocoPhillips and Chevron Phillips Chemical. During these talks they also reviewed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them. The meetings were attended by HE Qatar's Ambassador to the United States Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari and a number of senior officials at Qatar Petroleum, Ras Gas and Qatar Petroleum International. Meanwhile, Qatar's Ambassador to the United States hosted a dinner ceremony in honor of HE Dr. Al Sada in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce and the US-Qatar Business Council in Washington DC which was attended by a number of American officials, headed by Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Anne Patterson and Susan Ziadeh, who is responsible for Gulf Affairs and Yemen at the US State Department. In his speech in front of the audience, HE the Energy Minister stressed the strong relationship between Qatar and energy companies in the United States, emphasising on the need for closer cooperation between the two sides. He also pointed out that such a partnership will help Qatar to exploit its energy resources in order to be an engine for development and build a sustainable economy that benefits all Qataris. For her part, the US Assistant Secretary of State confirmed that the economic relations between the two countries became very close today, referring to the United States readiness to support the development of Qatar's economy.
