HE Prime Minister Patronizes Ministerial Groups Meeting

Doha, February 18 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani patronized on Wednesday the meeting of the three ministerial groups formed in implementation of His Excellency's decision in January 2015. The three groups include the Ministerial Group for coordination and follow-up of major projects (of strategic importance), the Ministerial Group to stimulate the participation of the private sector in economic development projects and the Ministerial Group to balance the allocation and reclamation of new lands. They were formed in implementation of the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the Government to complete major projects related to economic development and to stimulate the private sector participation in the economic development projects, in addition to the fight against inflation and rising prices and the provision of services. During the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Chairman of the Ministerial Group to stimulate the participation of the private sector in economic development projects made a brief presentation on the outcomes of this group and the action plan, including an amendment of the laws to allow greater contribution of the government and the private sector in several sectors including health, education, manufacturing, warehousing sectors and logistics activities. In this context, HE the Prime Minister gave directives to hold a meeting with the private sector representatives in his presence to discuss these projects and the implementation steps in the coming period. For his part, HE the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Ministerial Group for coordination and follow-up of major projects (of strategic importance) submitted a report on the work of the group, the size and number of current and future State projects and means to follow up their implementation in terms of duration and financial budgets. He pointed to the group's keenness to maintain an efficient performance in the implementation within the approved budgets. In this regard, HE the Prime Minister stressed the need for a clear mechanism to deal with any delay or increase of the cost of projects in an effective manner. The Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning and Chairman of the Ministerial Group to balance the allocation and reclamation of new lands briefed the participants on the group' outcomes in terms of the budget for the lands, the size and number of lands and spaces allocated for various activities in the State. HE the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Municipality to arrange meetings with developing companies in the construction sector to review urban development plans and prepare for the publication of the various planning activities plans data in order to ensure the participation of citizens in it and transparency. At the conclusion of the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani called on the ministerial groups to continue working with high efficiency and enhance the spirit of cooperation between the different government's activities in various fields.
